SERVICES
Teaching kids how to ride a bike for the first time is the most common lesson I book, but I would love the opportunity to provide a session proposal for any bicycle and cycling-related need you have.
Based in Northern Westchester County, New York, I typically work in Bedford (Katonah), Lewisboro (Goldens Bridge), and surrounding towns such as Pound Ridge and Yorktown Heights.
learn to ride
Tailored to the learner’s experience, I’ve helped children and adults swing a leg over a bike for the first time and get started, as well as start up learning again, never having quite gotten confident balancing and riding a bicycle.
Through identifying and connecting with how the student understands balancing concepts, I’ve been privileged to watch student confidence and grins grow exponentially, even just within a one-hour lesson slot.
We establish starting, stopping, straight-line riding and turning skills as a foundation before moving on to topics such as gear selection and road skills.
smart cycling skills
While I work Smart Cycling skills into every session I conduct, I also welcome the opportunity to move beyond learn-to-ride sessions and develop riding confidence and safety.
Sessions are tailored to student requests, but typically include bike handling skills and hazard avoidance maneuvers practice in a controlled environment with “live” road riding as the student confidence and comfort affords.
basic repair & service
Being prepared for a flat tire or other basic mechanical issue is critical to riding confidence and enjoyment - I’ll take you through the equipment you need to change that flat on the road and assess any other issues you can solve without calling for a ride.
In addition, we will review and practice safety checks and maintenance at home between rides that keep your bike safe and running smoothly.
